“‘Let them look’, he thought as he hopped up unto his seat. ‘let them stare and whisper until they’ve had their fill, I will not hide myself for their sake.'”
-Tyrion Lannister: A storm of swords: blood and gold-
Tyrion Lannister is no foreign character for those who have read the Song of Ice and Fire series or watched the Game of Thrones TV series. Being a dwarf with his mismatched eyes, stout legs and hideous face – not to mention his lack of a nose later – Tyrion Lannister is hardly the best looking man in the series. But does he give it a darn? Well he sort of does care a little (who can’t actually if they are disfigured like him in the worst ways possible?) but no, he will not hide himself away and sulk! He will not let anything stand in his way, least of all his own looks!
Tyrion’s regard for his looks-or lack thereof to be exact- speaks a lot and we can certainly learn one thing or a two from him. You might not be the prettiest or the most handsome person out there but hey! count your blessings ’cause you’re not badly disfigured like Tyrion either! Why should we even care about how we look as long as we are comfortable with ourselves? It’s not like we can see ourselves! Others do. And if they don’t like what they’re seeing, then that’s their problem and they can learn to deal with that. We don’t have to put up with it!
People may judge you by how you look, but should you worry about what others may think? It’s your life so live it your way! Others may judge you, criticize you and maybe even loathe you just because of the way you look, but as long as you act true to your heart, you should not worry about those lame and stupid conclusions they draw just based on the way you look. Remember, you’ve only got one life so live it YOUR WAY! Make that the best life one could ever imagine! Don’t let your low self esteem about your looks trouble you and hold you down!
“Never forget what you are for surely the world will not. Make it your strength, then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, then it will be never used to hurt you.”
